My Angel

I share my journey with grief and child loss, in an intimate and personal blog with one goal in mind: to assure all the bereaved mama's out there in the world that they are not alone!

My son, Yoá (pronounced Joe-ah) was bright and spirited 3 year old who loved life and lived it to its fullest! He was born to an Californian Mommy and Caribbean daddy (Panamanian and Costa Rican.) We traveled all over the Caribbean and Central America together. He loved watching Dino Dana, DinoTrux, but Paw Patrol was his favorite! He was obsessed with crabs, sting ray's; anything the ocean sea had to offer, he loved. He was extremely silly, goofy and funny. Salchichas (sausages) were one of his favorite foods as well as broccoli and Avena (Oatmeal) milk. My son was raised to be respectful, opinionated, free, and was cherished dearly. I taught him that he was a 'strong black man,' an affirmation he repeated daily.

On May 21, 2020, my beautiful child lost his life in an accidental drowning incident. Myself, his family, his friends, and his loved ones MISS him so very much!

From my grief has come Yoá's Place, to honor my son's legacy, to say his name, and to keep his spirit alive. Everything I do is for my child. He is my forever inspiration.
